Stripe handles checkout, recurring subscriptions, invoicing, tax (Stripe Tax), marketplace payments (Connect), and usage-based billing (Meters). The 2026 default integration uses Stripe Checkout for top-of-funnel, Customer Portal for self-serve plan changes, and Webhooks for syncing billing state to your own DB (with signature verification + idempotency keys).
