Legacy MetaQuotes terminal still used by most retail forex brokers in 2026; runs MQL4 EAs.
Although MetaQuotes stopped issuing new MT4 broker licenses in 2018, MT4 remains dominant in retail forex due to broker inertia. Many MT4 EAs in production today have been continuously deployed for 5-10 years. New MT4 EA development is still common when the client's broker is MT4-only or when the strategy already runs in MT4.
